RESEARCH AND INNOVATION:
Pilot Projects and Health Care Research
Starting in 2016, LILT Biella has decided to taking part to research and innovation projects in a systematic way, also through access to regional, national and European health care research funding.
The annual or two-years pilot projects and trials of which it is a part embrace all areas of action of the Italian League for the fight against cancer, covering primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. The priority is to build good practices that can offer innovative and excellent prevention pathways based on scientific evidence and aimed directly at users whether they are patients, long-survivors or healthy people.
The implementation of the initiatives takes place in partnership with the LILT sections of other regions, Universities, Hospitals/ASL and National and European Networks of Excellence. Through these collaborations it is possible to test in a synergistic way the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed procedures, even in different settings and ecosystems next to Biella territory. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of the services offered and achieve effective evidence-based results, with a high degree of application and transferability.
The reference principles that inspire this new activities’ area and identity of LILT Biella should be traced in the concept of “open research and innovation”. In addition to the normal practice of publishing results in scientific publications at the end of the research process, activities are carried out and disseminated as soon as they are available through the creation of multidisciplinary teams and the use of digital and collaborative technology.
